Ink Jet Labels

Perhaps you'd like to print color roll labels on-demand. Inkjet label printers allow you to print full-color roll labels on-demand, cost around $3,000 for most models and can print high quality color labels up to 8 inches wide. Print speeds vary from .2 to .8 inches per second when printing in high quality mode. Most models come with separate ink cartridges for black and color inks. You can pay more for multiple ink cartridges, wider label dimensions and faster printing speeds.

The benefit to inkjet printers is that it does not cost any more per label to print 50 labels than it does to print 5,000. The downside is that the price per label does not go down with the number of labels you'd like to produce (as it does for digital or flexo printed labels.) There are no dies or plates, and the printers function like a standard inkjet printer, making the printing process fairly straightforward.
